How to clean the ashes from a fire ?

I don't have a fireplace set and it seems to me easier to vacuum up the mess. But is this safe to do?
I have found some recommendations and want to share them:

  1. First make sure the fire is out.
  2. Scoop out as much as you can with a dust pan if you don't want to ruin your vacuum cleaner.
  3. Vacuum the rest ashes. After vacuuming the smell and odor will stay for months in your vacuum cleaner. So you need some really good micro filtration filter bags.
Well, from the first sight it looks really easier to vacuum up the ashes fro fireplace. But if you have vacuum over $ 700, I wouldn't recommend this method for you.

How to clean the inside of a toaster?

There are some tips how to clean the inside of your toaster:
  • You can shake it upside down and then get a large pipe cleaner and scrape off the excess.
  • Shake it upside down and then clean it with your vacuum cleaner. I have Kirby vacuum with a lot of very useful devices for cleaning tiny places.
  • Some toasters models have a crumb tray at the bottom. So you can remove it to wash with soap and brush ( use an old toothbrush ).
